PokerStars was founded in 2001 by Mark Scheinberg and his father Isai as an online poker site. Through the 2000s it grew into the largest poker network in the world.
Amaya bought it in 2014 for $4.9 billion, and Flutter Entertainment has owned it since May 2020. The casino came later, as the name moved into regulated US markets.
